Rebuild | Overhaul Engineer

As a result of sustained growth and workload,  our client have created an opportunity for a rebuild / overhaul engineer to conduct head, heart, and bottom end overhauls and major engine maintenance on their fleet of gas engines.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the business during a pivotal phase of growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Familiarity with Jenbacher, MTU, MAN, Liebherr engines ranging from 20 kW to 3.5 MW
  • Work collaboratively and partner with different departments to ensure that efforts to maintain internal/external satisfaction are consistent
  • Working as part of a team to ensure standard is upheld following the OEM mandate.
  • Performing engine overhauls and major rebuilds covering the Top-end, Mid-section and Bottom-end.
  • Working on scheduled in frame overhauls, including major internal component replacement, cylinder heads, pistons, liners, connecting-rods, bearings, turbochargers, intercoolers etc.
  • Full engine block exchanges including safe electrical and mechanical isolations and disconnections.
  • Replacing mechanical and electrical engine components and basic electrical trouble-shooting, fault finding and repair.
  • Testing alternators, basic panel installation work and generator maintenance.
  • Receiving and providing engineering support, guidance and training, as required
  • Successfully specifying spare parts and maintaining adequate stocks and records.
  • Successfully applying the Company’s HSQE system to all tasks undertaken.
  • Ensuring all maintenance and repair works completed are recorded accurately in accordance with company standards.

Key Skills:

  • Minimum Level 3 in NVQ, Apprenticeship or City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of engine experience, preferably with overhaul experience.
  • Ideally, you’ll have experience in the power generation industry or related fields, with transferable skills in HGV, marine, or genset engines.
  • Core engine knowledge with proficiency in Top-End Overhaul, Short Block Overhaul and Bottom-End Overhaul.
  • Familiarity with Jenbacher, MTU, MAN, and Liebherr engines ranging from 20 kW to 3.5 MW would be desirable.
  • Gas engine experience is preferred, but not essential.
  • Health and safety knowledge, including risk assessments and PPE adherence.
  • Basic electrical skills, especially for disconnections and reconnections.
  • MS suite IT skills for reporting and communication
  • Gas safe certification is ideal; training provided if necessary.
  • Additional desirable qualifications include electrical isolation courses and health and safety certifications.
  • UK Driving license
