Renew Consultancy is working on a sole agency basis with a specialist Power Generation business. This is a varied, exciting and challenging opportunity for a technically minded and commercially astute Engineer to join an established Power Generation organisation and carry out a dual function role within their business.
It is important to note that your time will be split between managing service operations and working as an Engineer directly in the field. The successful candidate will originate from within the Power Generation sector and possess demonstrable experience in the service, maintenance & troubleshooting of reciprocating gas engines.
This opportunity is not available elsewhere and would suit a skilled CHP Field Service Engineer, Operations Engineer or CHP Team leader, looking to advance their career in the Power Generation sector, with a reputable business.
Geographical sites are mainly Midlands, South Yorkshire and North East with very occasional travel to regions elsewhere.
Responsibilities of the Service Engineering Operations Manager include:
- Lead, manage and be responsible for all operational aspects of the delivery of operational field activities to the customers over the entire service lifecycle, including day-to-day delivery, critical spares, budget, Health & Safety, audits, field productivity, quality and accreditation.
- Carry out service and maintenance of gas engines at local sites, repairing any mechanical or electrical failures.
- Perform electrical fault finding on gas engine control panels, replacing faulty wiring and low voltage electrical components.
- Ensuring all field service operations are carried out with the highest regard for health, safety, environmental & quality compliance.
- Plan and execute field service work, monitoring from a productivity, cost and quality perspective.
- Support to manage subcontractors used in the delivery of field services, whether the subcontractor is used for equipment provision, services or manpower.
- Assist with identification and development of service schedules, and improvements.
- Work with subcontractors to identify faults and resolve engine issues.
- Establish and support relationships with vendors and 3rd party suppliers, by seeking high quality service organisations that can contribute to the requirements of the business.
- To ensure that quality control procedures are used during overhaul, inspection, and rebuild of engines and related equipment.
The successful Service Engineering Operations Manager will possess:
- Strong communication and presentation skills, ability to interact with both internal and external customers.
- Technical, commercial, financial and H&S awareness.
- The ability to work in a complex environment with conflicting demands and make clear and consistent decisions.
- A positive attitude and constructive approach.
- Have a strong focus on Continuous Improvement and ensuring that the service provided meets industry quality and company standards.
- Related experience, technical knowledge and/or training or within the energy generation and mandatory experience in the maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of reciprocating gas engines & generator operations.
- Be a hands-on type person as well as familiar with office environment.
